Continuous monitor

Records radon around the clock

1 year

  1. Setup and Wi-Fi
  2. Continuous readings
  3. A report every month
  4. Pickup after a year

Radon levels are typically higher during the heating season.

Why monitor for a year?

Radon isn't constant. It rises and falls with the weather, the seasons and how your home is used, and it's typically higher in the heating season when homes are closed up.

A continuous monitor records radon around the clock, and a full year covers every season. Your monthly reports show how your levels change over time, not just at one moment.

We take care of it

There's nothing to buy and nothing to manage. We provide the monitor, set it up in the right spot, connect it to your Wi-Fi and make sure it's recording. Each month, your report arrives. At the end of the year, we come and pick the monitor up.

Ideal for

  • Homeowners who want to see how radon changes through every season
  • Following your levels over time without managing a device yourself
  • New owners who want to keep watch after moving in
  • Keeping an eye on levels after radon reduction work

What's included

  • An Ecosense EcoGuard continuous radon monitor, on loan for one year
  • Professional placement and setup in the right spot in your home
  • Connection to your home Wi-Fi, and confirmation that it's recording
  • A report every month showing your home's radon levels
  • Pickup of the monitor at the end of the year

How it works

  1. Step 1: We set it up.

We place the monitor, connect it to your Wi-Fi and confirm it's recording.

  2. Step 2: It records around the clock.

The monitor measures radon continuously, all year.

  3. Step 3: A report every month.

You receive a monthly report showing your home's radon levels.

  4. Step 4: We pick it up.

At the end of the year, we collect the monitor.

Reading your monthly reports

Each report shows your home's radon levels for the month, in becquerels per cubic metre (Bq/m³), alongside Health Canada's 200 Bq/m³ guideline. Here's how to think about what you see.

  • Consistently lower

    Reassuring

Good to see. No level of radon is considered risk-free, so keep an eye on how the heating season compares.

  • Rising in some months

    Normal swings

Radon is typically higher in colder months when homes are closed up. Seasonal ups and downs are exactly what a year of monitoring is meant to show.

  • Often above 200 Bq/m³

    Let's talk

Get in touch. We'll explain what you're seeing and your options, including a long-term laboratory test and radon mitigation.

What we'll need from you

  • A standard power outlet near the monitoring location
  • A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, and keeping the monitor plugged in and connected
  • Leaving the monitor in place, undisturbed, for the year
  • Agreement to the monitoring terms, including how your data is used

What monitoring can and can't tell you

  • Monitoring shows trends over time. It is not an emergency alert service.
  • The monitor can only record while it stays powered and connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Your monthly reports are not a laboratory long-term test report.
  • Recommended

    Short-Term + Long-Term Radon Testing

    48 hours + at least 91 days

We start a 48-hour preliminary check with a professional radon monitor and place a long-term laboratory detector at the same visit. You get an early snapshot within days, while the long-term test builds the clearer picture of your home's average radon level.

Equipment: Airthings Corentium Pro professional radon monitor, plus a long-term laboratory detector

    Good to know

    • The 48-hour reading is preliminary. Radon changes with weather and how the home is used, so it can differ from your long-term result.
    • Your long-term laboratory result is what Health Canada's 200 Bq/m³ guideline and any mitigation decision are based on.
  • Long-Term Radon Testing

At least 91 days, ideally during the heating season

The test Health Canada recommends for understanding your home's average radon level. We place a long-term detector, collect it after at least 91 days, arrange laboratory analysis and walk you through the result.

    Good to know

    • Results arrive after the test period of at least 91 days, plus laboratory processing time.
    • Fall and winter testing is preferred because radon levels are typically higher during the heating season.
